MISSISSIPPI arts pavilion
Renovation turns drab municipal structure into an exhibit hall fit for royalty.
Total renovation converted this metal structure municipal building into an exhibition hall for the elegant The Palaces of St. Petersburg: Russian Imperial Style exhibit in 1996. This presentation featured five sumptuous rooms painstakingly re-created from the four palaces that encircle St. Petersburg, known as “the string of pearls.”
After a complete “gutting” and rebuild of facility, new mechanical and electrical systems were installed. A host to several world-class art exhibits including, The Majesty of Spain: Royal Collections from the Museo del Prado and Patrimonio Nacional and The Glory of Baroque Dresden, the building today serves as the home of the Mississippi Museum of Art.
